Kano State Government, led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has released a statement indicating that they have started paying workers' salaries in line with the new N30,600 minimum wage from December 2019.
According to the statement signed by signed by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba indicated that Governor Ganduje had, right from the commencement of negotiation between the federal government and organized labour, indicated his administration’s readiness to pay the restructured minimum wage.
With this development, the statement added, workers in the state are smiling home with their new pay from their respective banks.
The statement also claimed that an agreement has been reached with the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JNC), to begin payment of arrears of April–November, 2019 in instalments over time.
