You will represent the APC in 2027 - Tinubu told

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will field President Bola Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

During an interview with the Senate Press Corps on Tuesday, February 25, Kalu emphasized that the President must be rewarded for his good governance, pointing out that some past presidents who underperformed were still re-elected for a second term.

According to him, while the administration’s economic reforms have put Nigerians under pressure, they will ultimately yield the desired results in the near future.

Kalu said: “We are appealing to the Nigerian people to be patient with the reform process. We are not looking for another presidential candidate outside our party; we are fully aligned with democratic principles and are committed to supporting the sitting President.

"Reforms are difficult, but they are necessary. The economy has been fragmented, and we are now working to piece it back together.

“It is a tough process, but patience is required. Economic challenges exist everywhere, not just in Nigeria—London, Canada, and other parts of the world are facing difficulties too.”

The former governor of Abia State and a ranking senator added that the Tinubu-led government is prioritizing consultations before making strategic decisions in the nation’s interest.

“The President is now engaging in broader consultations, both locally and internationally, before making key economic decisions.”
