Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has described the embattled Biafra leader as a freedom fighter who is seeking the rights of his people.
Kanu who has been in the custody of the DSS since 2021 was likened to other popular freedom agitators like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi.
His comments come off the back of the confrontation Kanu had with Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court after the judge refused to recuse herself from his case.
In a viral video, the IPOB leader insisted that Nyako could no longer preside over his trial because she had recused herself.
In a post on X, Ejimakor wrote: “Throughout history, freedom fighters have spoken up for themselves in court & to the media. Nelson Mandela did.
“Martin Luther King Jr. did. Mahatma Gandhi did. The Court permitted MAZI NNAMDI KANU to speak & he did, very eloquently & from the heart. It’s a win-win for the case.”
Ejimakor further posted the Certified True Copy of Nyako’s decision on September 24, 2024, where the judge ordered: “The root of adjudication is in confidence. The Defendant has no confidence in this Court. Consequently, I hereby recuse myself from this trial and hereby remit the case file to the Chief Judge for further necessary action.”
Commenting on Nyako’s declaration, Ejimakor wrote: “Case closed.”
