A video of former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, criticizing former President Olusegun Obasanjo has resurfaced.

In the video, Fayose described Obasanjo as the worst president ever and claimed that he contributed N10 million to the construction of Obasanjo’s famous Presidential Library project.

Fayose stated that Obasanjo was a corrupt president who attacked the PDP, the party that provided him a platform to be president for eight years after his release from prison.

He said, “Obasanjo will come out with his routine mouth and condemn the PDP, the party in which he was president for eight years. The same party that gave him a platform after his release from prison. When we saw the picture of Obasanjo being released by General Salam, you would not want such a person to sit beside you.

The same man is now saying, “I have opened a library” and my N10 million is part of his library. We, as Governors, were made to pay N10 million for his library in 2005. I have written to him, return that money.

Nigeria will be celebrating a corrupt man. He is the worst ever. I contributed N10 million. Some of you are afraid of him. What will Obasanjo do? His time has come and gone. We are at the centre of the business now. I am the Governor now, where is he?”

This video was reportedly recorded in 2006, three years after Fayose became Governor of Ekiti State in 2003.

Due to his criticisms of Obasanjo who was then the President of Nigeria, Fayose was impeached over corruption allegations, and a state of emergency was declared in Ekiti. Since then, Fayose and Obasanjo have continued their feud.

Recently, the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Babafemi Ojudu, revealed how he orchestrated the impeachment of Fayose with Obasanjo’s support.

Speaking on Edmund Obilo’s podcast, State Affairs, Ojudu narrated, “I plotted and scripted the impeachment of Fayose in Ekiti. I used Obasanjo and when he realized it, he fought back against me.

“I had an agreement and signed that Fayose should be impeached but make sure his deputy is not. I took all the lawmakers to Lagos where I kept them in hotels and was feeding and taking them around.

“I was not a senator, I was a journalist who had money and my friends gave me money. They were not happy with him, I saw that weak link and I exploited it.

“Obasanjo was angry and gave the deputy governor soldiers to return to Ekiti and proclaim herself as governor. When she got there, I called people to resist her and they had no alternative but to declare an emergency.

“Fayose sued me for libel and Falana was my lawyer, I went to court and presented my facts, by the time we finished, Justice Daramola told Fayose ‘you have no honour and integrity.'”
