Reno Omokri, a former special assistant has criticized Peter Obi for condemning the arrest of Human Rights activist Dele Farotimi without extending the same courtesy to Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra agitator.
Omokri, in a post on X stated that Obi is quick to defend individuals from other regions of the country but hesitates when it comes to defending individuals in the southeast.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched personal attacks on Obi since the latter defected from the PDP to the Labour Party over the past year.
In his latest attack on the former Anambra governor, Omokri insinuated that Obi has not yet come to the defense of the southeast, where he hails from.
He wrote on X: "Peter Obi spoke up about the arrest of Dele Farotimi within hours of it occurring. However, two weeks after the arrest of Simon Ekpa, Peter Obi is still in shock and has not spoken. Why the double standard?"
"If it is in the North or Southwest, Peter Obi will dance naked in the streets. If it is about Igboland, Okwute will chop and clean mouth!"
Earlier Peter Obi had demanded the immediate release of Dele Farotimi, a detained human rights advocate.
Obi in a statement described his arrest by the Ekiti State Police Command as a "gross misuse of police powers" and "a grave assault on the principles of democracy and justice in Nigeria". He said that he has been defamed, insulted and lied against yet has never used authorities to silence others.
