A section of social media users has criticized former Senator Shehu Sani for his recent criticism of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Sani, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), responded to a comment Wike made about him in a recent interview on Channels TV. He emphasized the importance of his role in Nigeria's politics and hinted at future engagements.
Earlier, Wike cast doubt on Sani's effectiveness as a lawmaker in the 8th Assembly, implying that individuals known for their activism often struggle to make an impact in government roles.
"Wike is a good friend. I would have preferred to respond to him at an event rather than on television," Sani said, pointing out instances where Wike strategically positioned himself to avoid immediate responses.
Sani defended his contributions as he reflected on his advocacy for democracy and the sacrifices he made while in politics. "Nobody can diminish the struggle we undertook to liberate Nigeria from military dictatorship," Sani affirmed, attributing the current political freedom to their efforts.
“People like Wike couldn't have become a local government chairman, a governor or a minister today if not for our struggle, he's a beneficiary of our struggle with the sweat and all that,” Sani said.

emmao1348th commented: The irony of the Nigerian situation today, is that those who were not known during the struggle against military dictatorship, are those benefiting from the struggle now. Non of the National Assembly members with the exception of Adams Oshiomole, that are receiving almost N30 million a month, was known during the struggle.
fadipelanre commented: Oga u are once there. What is the tangible thing u did for kaduna central constituents. U are all the same.
''If not for the struggle we did to de-establish military dictatorship in Nigeria, people like Wike couldn't have been LG chairman or minister today. He is a beneficiary of our struggle and sweat''
