A video showing Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, a House of Representative member for Aba North & South Federal Constituency, assaulting a delivery driver has raised concerns.

In the video captured by the driver, Alex is seen fuming and slapping the man who had arrived at his home to deliver a package.

Reports suggest that the incident began when the driver asked Alex to meet him at his car to pick up the parcel; he was sent to deliver.

Displeased by the request, Alex confronted the driver for asking him to come out of his Maitama home in Abuja to collect his item when he expected the man to bring the package into his compound.

As a result of the driver’s refusal, Alex threatened to lock him up in his generator house and make him disappear. The House of Representatives member also landed two slaps on the driver’s face.

“Do you know who I am? I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen.” “I am Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member.”

The driver, who remained calm and continued to record the incident, questioned Alex for assaulting him while demanding to be paid for his service so he could leave.

Alex went further to call the woman who sent the deliveryman, asking her why she sent such a disrespectful person. The woman apologized to him, explaining that the man did not know who he was.

The video has sparked reactions from Nigerians who lamented the actions of the House of Representatives member, who not long ago was on the streets of Abia State campaigning and begging for votes.

@muhammed_mi312: As the House of Rep. Member status, he is supposed to have some legislative aids around him but from what can be seen, he is alone. It may be because he has made many disappeared. This probably explained why he is alone. Police should do their work.
