'We love their tears' — Ghana's AFCON woes spark trolls from Nigerians

The Nigerian-Ghana banter has taken center stage on social media following the Black Stars' harrowing defeat to Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coached by former Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah, Sudan compounded Ghana's AFCON woes after beating the Black Stars 2-0 in their home game played at the Martyrs of February Stadium, Libya.

Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud gave the home side the lead in the 62nd minute after capitalizing on a defensive howler from the Black Stars before Mohamed Abdelrahman doubled their lead three minutes later.

The result leaves Ghana with just two points after four games and languishing in 3rd position behind Angola on 12 points and Sudan with seven points.

This means either a win or draw for Sudan in any of their last two fixtures against Niger and Angola will see Ghana miss out on a ticket to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco next year.

It will be the first time the four-time African champions have failed to qualify for the Nations Cup since the 2006 edition in Tunisia.

Ghana's AFCON qualifiers debacle have garnered reactions from rivals in Nigeria as many have taken to social media to troll their Ghanaian counterparts.
