Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears after missing a crucial penalty against Slovakia in the round of 16 of the ongoing European Championship in Germany.
While the game was still deadlocked in extra time, the 39-year-old had a glorious opportunity to give his side the lead from the spot but saw his effort saved by Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
At the halftime break in extra time, the Portuguese skipper was visibly emotional and seen in tears while his teammates encouraged him.
The Portuguese players rallied around the Al Nassr star to console him, with Diogo Dalot playing a key role.
Despite the initial missed penalty, Portugal eventually won the game 3-0 via the shootouts with Diogo Costa emerging as hero after saving all three spot kicks by Slovakia.
Ronaldo successfully converted his spot kick this time to help the 2016 champions to progress to the next stage.
Roberto Martinez's side will now face France in the last eight, as Didier Deschamps' side also edged Belgium 1-0.
Ronaldo always fights for them but this time they fought for him.
