Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and human rights lawyer Femi Falana has revealed that he and his family have been receiving death threats if he proceeds with his lawsuit against activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.

In an interview with Sahara Reporters, Falana disclosed that he received threats to burn down his office and kill one of his daughters if he continues with the court case against the activist.

The conflict began after VDM implicated Femi Falana and his son, rapper Falz, in a video where he leaked an audio recording of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

In the recording, Bobrisky claimed not to have served his sentence in prison but in a private apartment and that he paid the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

Bobrisky claimed in the audio that he spoke to Falz, who had advised him to pay his father N10 million to help seek pardon and remove his name from the record.

VeryDarkMan expressed disbelief that Femi Falana, a notable human rights lawyer, would be involved in Bobrisky’s prison bribery scandal.

This sparked massive reactions, prompting the Falana family to respond with legal action against VeryDarkMan, accusing him of defaming the lawyer and his family.

In a recent interview with Sahara Reporters, Femi Falana hinted that he and his family have been threatened. He vowed to ensure those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.

He said, “The only disturbing area in this scenario is the threat to me and one of my two daughters. Some of these guys, who I believe are mentally deranged, have dared me. ‘If you go to court, we shall burn your office.’

“They’ve also sent messages to one of my daughters saying, ‘If your father goes to court, we shall kill you.’ I just laugh and tell my girl, don’t worry, I will take it up. I’ve already taken that up because we must let these guys know where we are coming from.”
