Former Senior Pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has launched his church in Lagos.
Iluyomade launched the new church named Family Fellowship after the leadership of the RCCG suspended him.
The clergyman got suspended for throwing a lavish birthday party for his wife in the same period a businessman and prominent member of his branch of the RCCG, Herbert Wigwe, died.
Wigwe died in a helicopter crash alongside his wife and son, throwing the church, family and friends into mourning.
However, while still mourning, Iluyomade's wife was seen in viral videos dancing with singer Flavour who performed on her 60th birthday.
This led to a backlash from many Nigerians who considered the action of the Iluyomade's as inconsiderate, because Wigwe was a huge contributor to the growth of the City of David parish they pastored.
Iluyomade was then suspended by the RCCG and was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11 with immediate effect.
However, months after his suspension, a video showed Iluyomade dancing with some people believed to be members of his new church.
The RCCG management is yet to react to the new development.
