Nigerian international Ademola Lookman made history as Atalanta beat Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 2.

After holding Arsenal to a goalless draw in their opening game, Atalanta recorded an impressive 3-0 win away in Ukraine.

Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman was on hand with a goal and an assist as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side cruised to a convincing victory.

Lookman became the second player in history to score and assist in the same game for the Bergamo-based club in the UEFA Champions League.

Duván Zapata was the first player to achieve this feat twice in the Champions League. The Colombian international first achieved this against FC Midtjylland in October 2020 before replicating the feat against Manchester United in 2021.

Lookman’s impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match award after the game.
