UCL: Lookman doubtful, Onyedika to start as Brugge host Atalanta

Belgium Pro League outfit Club Brugge will host Atalanta in the first leg playoff of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 at the Jan Breydel Stadium, Bruges.

Super Eagles player Raphael Onyedika is expected to start for the Blue-Black, whereas reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman remains doubtful for the clash.

Lookman sustained an injury during training ahead of Atalanta's last UCL clash against Barcelona in the league phase.

Despite returning to personal training, his availability remains in doubt, as disclosed by Gian Piero Gasperini.

“Lookman had a rather annoying bruise that he’s been carrying over from Naples. We’ll see in the next few days if he’ll be available for Wednesday,” Gasperini said in the pre-match conference.

Lookman's absence would be a huge blow for La Dea due to his significant contributions to Atalanta.

Onyedika, on the other hand, will undoubtedly be in action for Brugge. The 23-year-old was brilliant in his side's last game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
