Tinubu's foreign trips most productive - Shehu Sani says, cites $4.2bn Brazil grant

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani stated that Bola Tinubu has been the most productive president in terms of foreign trips.

In a post on his social media page, Sani noted that President Tinubu's foreign trips since taking office in 2023 have resulted in significant economic gains for Nigeria. This, he claimed, is a departure from the wasteful foreign trips of previous presidents.

Sani specifically highlighted the economic benefits of President Tinubu's visits to Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa. He expressed excitement over Brazil's $4.2 billion grant to boost Nigeria's agriculture, which will be distributed among local governments.

“The history of Presidential foreign travels in this country has been infamously known to be wasteful. However, there is an evidently notable difference this time around,” Sani wrote on his X handle. “The President’s visit to Saudi, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa attracted verifiable and practical economic gains for Nigeria.”

“To travel and come back with something huge is ok; to travel and come back with nothing is not ok,” Sani added

Sani’s comments come as Nigeria’s foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 248.1% ($103.82m) in Q3 2024, according to the latest economic statistics.
