There are more black people in UK prisons, mental hospitals than in schools – Adegboyega counters Kemi Badenoch's claim

The founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, SPAC Nation, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent comments made by Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the United Kingdom opposition, regarding her country of origin, Nigeria.

Badenoch recently made headlines after reportedly denigrating Nigeria. She has been heard giving interviews where she shared her thoughts about the country, which did not sit well with many.

She came under fire from several Nigerians, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who suggested she change her name if she wasn’t proud of her home country.

While speaking with The Free Press, a US media outlet, the leader of the UK’s Conservative Party claimed that officers of the Nigeria Police Force stole her brother’s watch and shoe.

In response to her comments, Adegboyega said in an interview on Channels Television that things are not as bleak in Nigeria as portrayed by the UK politician.

According to the SPAC pastor, there are more black people in the UK prisons and mental hospitals than in schools.

“I completely disagree with her statement. In 2023, 2024, 78,000 bags were snatched. 78,000 phones snatched in the UK in London. So, I disagree with the statement.

“There is a very strong Nigerian black community in the UK. People who have been fighting for people like the leader of the opposition that you just mentioned to get to that position.

“We know what’s going on. Do you know that prisons have more black young people than schools in the UK?

“So there are more young black people in prisons in the UK, in most mental hospitals we have more young black people than in schools.

“So yes, our country has its own issues, but it’s definitely not true what the leader of the opposition is saying.”
