The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he would never succumb to threats if he were to become the President of Nigeria.
Speaking to the media in Abuja on Wednesday, the former Rivers State governor questioned individuals who issue threats against the government, emphasizing that such actions are politically motivated.
Referring to recent threats emanating from Rivers State following certain decisions by President Bola Tinubu, Wike argued that these threats are orchestrated for political gain.
He warned that any attempt to intimidate him, should he attain the highest office in the land, would not succeed.
He said: "How dare you threaten a country? Who is issuing the threat? These are politically motivated schemes orchestrated by individuals within the government. Look, we all know ourselves."
"Whenever an appointment is made for an MD of the NDDC, they threaten to blow up pipelines. Another appointment is made elsewhere, and the same threats follow."
"What kind of country are we in? If I were a sitting president and someone threatened me, saying that enforcing a court ruling would lead to destruction, I would say, ‘Let it be blown up then."
Wike’s remarks come amid the recent demolition of private homes in the Gishiri and Katampe areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
