Tax Reform Bills: It would be an injustice if they affected Tinubu in 2027 - Oyedele

The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele says he feels sorry for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential elections following intense criticism of the new Tax Reform Bills.

Oyedele made the comment as he responded to the question on the new bill affecting the chances of the President in 2027.

During a town hall meeting organized by Channels Television to discuss the controversies surrounding the bills, the Chairman was asked if he realised he may be causing President Bola Tinubu a second term.

The question came amid the feelings that the bills have caused upset among some political heavyweights in the country, especially the Northern region.

However, Oyedele hoped that if anything happens to the President in 2027 it would not be because of the bill, insisting the bills were for the benefits of all Nigerians.

“I feel really very sorry for Mr President, even though he says nobody should feel sorry for him.

“And it’s just Nigerians from all over Nigeria who came up with this analysis, using data to make those recommendations, but they bring everything on him. But as a leader, he’s taking all of it in good faith.

“I hope that the reason why, if anything happens in 2027, will not be because of this bill, because that way, we’ll be doing an injustice, not only to him, but to the whole of this country, Nigeria,” he said.
