Nigerians are regarded as some of the most intelligent people across the globe. They have shown resilience, grit, and instinct to survive in some of the deadliest terrains globally.
Not only have they shown the characteristics indicated above, but they have also excelled in almost all sectors they find themselves in. Whether it be science, academia, politics, or entertainment, their talent is enormous.
While the talents remain, various governments have failed to take advantage of what is available to them.
These governments since 1999 have promised to introduce policies that benefit the growing youth population but have failed to live up to expectations, while some have partly fulfilled these promises.
President Bola Tinubu, since he assumed office on May 29, has displayed a commitment to Nigeria's younger population by appointing Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth Development and announcing a 30-day youth conference in his Independence Day broadcast on October 1st.
While these actions have garnered mixed reactions from political and social commentators, they have not been wholly received by the young population who continue to be skeptical of the government's policy statements.
The recent fuel hike by the state-owned oil company, NNPC Ltd, has continued to make the administration unpopular and has generated reactions, especially on social media.
Social media users have reacted to the new hike by describing President Bola Tinubu as "T-Pain," a term that is now trending on social media.
