The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has praised President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria for having “strong leadership.”

Biden commended Tinubu’s handling of the crisis triggered by the coup in Niger Republic.

According to the US president, Tinubu's administration has also taken the right steps “to reform Nigeria’s economy”.

Biden further expressed his gratitude to the chair of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for defending democracy and preserving the rule of law in Niger and the broader region.

He said: “Nigeria’s invitation to the G20 Summit is a recognition of Nigeria’s important global role as Africa’s largest democracy and economy amid military takeover."
