The Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs (Office of the Vice President), Tope Fasua, has urged young Nigerians to stop the constant attacks on the political class and the Bola Tinubu-led administration.
Instead, he advised them to focus on repositioning themselves for the global market.
Fasua made this appeal during an appearance on the Tuesday edition of Politics Today on Channels Television on February 25.
According to him, the economy will experience growth soon, making it crucial for young people to prepare themselves to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
He said: "I mean, get me very, very correctly. I didn't come here to say, ‘Go and tighten your belt and wait for Godot’—not at all. What I've said very clearly is that the opportunities are there. Open your eyes and stay prepared.
"Look, if someone makes themselves unemployable, they are going to have issues. But if you take advantage of available opportunities—there are free training programs all over the internet—you can improve your prospects.
"You can either spend your time abusing the government and criticizing prominent individuals on social media, or you can use that same time to take online courses and reposition yourself for better employment."
He emphasized that times have changed, and people must adapt accordingly.
"No one is saying that people should continue to suffer. What I'm saying is that things are already improving. Of course, this is in the realm of cognitive dissonance—people tend to complain when they are struggling, but when they experience an advantage, they don't always acknowledge it."
