Former Nigerian football striker and ex-head coach of the Nigerian national team, Samson Siasia, is preparing for a return to coaching in the local league.
Siasia, who was previously handed a life ban by FIFA in August 2019 over match-fixing allegations, successfully appealed the decision in 2021 after The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his life ban to five years and dismissed the 50,000 Swiss Francs fine initially imposed on him.
As Siasia's ban is set to end in August 2024, he is expected to regain his coaching freedom and return to the sport.
News of his imminent return has sparked interest from several clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL), eager to secure his expertise.
However, Siasia has yet to make a final decision on his next move, with an announcement expected before the end of August.
