Activist, Aisha Yesufu has taken to social media to mock Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, following the recent unrest in Rivers State.
Reports indicate that the current Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the Local Government Chairmen to vacate their offices hours after their tenure expired on Monday, June 17, 2024.
Fubara also ordered the Local Government Administrators to take charge of the LGA councils while thanking the LGAs for their service.
Some of these LGA chairmen who are loyalists of the former Governor, Nyesom Wike resisted the move and insisted on returning to their offices on Tuesday. They claim that the state House of Assembly elongated their tenures by six months.
However, they faced huge resistance from the Rivers youth. The face-off between Fubara and Wike has currently thrown the state into chaos.
Reacting to the recent situation, Yesufu tackled Wike for his involvement in the Rivers crisis, saying Fubara is more reliable to the President than Wike.
She stated that President Bola Tinubu would rather make a deal with Fubara than Wike, stressing that the Minister has no relevance to Rivers State’s structure.
She wrote, “Wike thought he was smart and decided to dine with the devil not knowing he was on the menu.
“A powerless Wike is a great asset to Tinubu and Tinubu will ensure every power that Wike has is stripped so he becomes a proper errand boy that can be controlled completely.
“Without the structure of Rivers State Wike is a haggard old politician and I bet you Tinubu would rather have a deal with Fubara than Wike”.
