Reno Omokri mocks former presidential candidates jumping on trends like teenagers

Reno Omokri has said some former presidential candidates are belittling themselves and behaving like teenagers by jumping on every trending topic that aims to undermine President Tinubu.

"I wish they saw how small this makes them. How could you have attained the height you have, and then you jump on the trends of teenagers and people in their twenties, whether right or wrong, as long as they attack President Tinubu?" he said on Facebook.

He urged such persons to learn from the behaviour and trajectory of those who have been presidents of Nigeria.

"How many of them have behaved like that? There are things you should be too mature to do. Because doing them may give you clout online but route you offline," he said.

"You are already famous. You do not need more fame. You need more credibility, without which you can't have electability.

"You know yourself. You are framing yourself to be an activist rather than an active leader. You are following the crowd rather than leading them."

Omokri urged the former presidential candidates to leave such behaviours to Oby Ezekwesili, and talk about issues rather than about tissues.

"Two years to 2027, you do not have your slogan, mantra, or brand. What is that one sentence or phrase that can encapsulate your ambition? You do not know. And the public does not know.

"Yet, every day, the term 'Renewed Hope' is discussed and written about, whether for good or bad. That slogan is burning itself into the hearts and minds of Nigerians subliminally and consciously.

"You are being left behind. Look at your timeline. Your posts read like an opposition data boy rather than an opposition leader.

"How many of the people around you have ever won an election before? Stop paying them salaries for five months and test their loyalties.

"And you do not even look before you leap. This individual is disrespecting a geopolitical zone with the second-highest voting bloc in Nigeria, and you are validating her.

"Supporting something the Constitution does not allow and whose end result is anarchy, and you want to be the Commander-in-Chief? What message are you passing to the officials of a scheme so crucial to Nigeria's unity?

"Even the person you are validating because of politics will grow and regret the behaviour you are encouraging.

"Then, when the results of the 2027 elections trickle in, your people will start shouting rigging, forgetting that you are dealing with the most sophisticated bloc of electorates in Nigeria, who do not forget easily like others," he said.
