Social commentator Isaac Fayose has emphasized that the upcoming protest scheduled for August 1-10 is aimed at demanding immediate actions to address challenges facing Nigerians, not to demand the resignation of President Bola Tinubu.

Young Nigerians have been preparing on social and traditional media for a protest focused on demanding good governance, accountability from the political class, and the reversal of policies that have led to harsh economic conditions for Nigerians.

The protest has garnered support from several political and socio-commentators, including Owoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate, and Charly Boy, an ally of Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

As the momentum grows, Fayose has emphasized that the protest is intended to demand good governance from the ruling class, not the resignation of President Tinubu. He shared his views from his base in Australia.

"The July 29 protest is about good governance, not telling President Tinubu to resign. Why not tell the governor to resign? Is he not collecting allocation? Why not tell your local government chairman to resign? Are they not collecting allocation? Are they not part of governance?" he questioned.

“Why would you ask President Tinubu to resign? Resign and go where? Why do you want to take away his mandate?"

The protest, which is gaining momentum in the North and other parts of the country, aims to draw attention to the citizens' plight.

The protest is set to take place in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

While some organizers, particularly from the northern region, remain anonymous, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has been promoting the August protest through his social media channels.

Sowore, who has led numerous protests in the country, stated that the revolution would begin in August, emphasizing that “Nothing Can Stop An Idea Whose Time Has Come” #RevolutionNOW.”
