President Bola Tinubu welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Nigeria for a two-day visit on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Upon Steinmeier’s arrival, he was greeted at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The German leader is expected to have discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Alieu Omar Touray.

Steinmeier will also visit Lagos, where he will meet with business leaders, visit a start-up hub, and engage with prominent figures from Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors, including Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.

During his time in Lagos, he will explore the urban development of the megacity, addressing environmental and social challenges as part of the visit’s focus on strengthening bilateral relations and collaboration.
