President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked Mohammed Bello-Koko as the managing director (MD) of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Bello-Koko was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2021 as acting MD and his appointment was confirmed in February 2022.

As reported by TheCable, the tenure of NPA MD is five years.

Legit.ng recalls that Bello-Koko launched modern control towers in port complexes in Lagos.

The management of the ports stated the move is to enhance safety and security at the ports.

Bello-Koko said the NPA is giving high priority to security at the ports because of its relevance to Nigeria.

NPA said the commissioning of the control towers signifies its commitment to improving efficiency via bold infrastructure and equipment renewal.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Tinubu appointed Dr Abubakar Dantsoho as the new NPA Managing Director to replace Bello-Koko.

The President also appointed former Minister of State for Works and former Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the Board of the NPA.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, July 12.

In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu allegedly sacked Ahmed Halilu, an uncle to Aisha Buhari, the former first lady of Nigeria.

Halilu was appointed as the managing director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM) by ex-president Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

The former president's in-law was reportedly sacked along with four other executives of the printing company, including Victoria Irabor, wife to ex-CDS Lucky Irabor.
