President Tinubu leaves for Abu Dhabi for sustainability summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja on Saturday, January 11, 2025, for the 2025 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in the United Arab Emirate. The event is scheduled to take place from January 12th to 18th.

The annual summit, initiated by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, serves as a platform to advance global discussions on sustainability.

In a statement issued by Tinubu’s special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, ADSW is set to bring together world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to foster sustainable development and create new pathways for socioeconomic progress.

Onanuga mentioned that the summit also offers an opportunity for leaders from business, civil society, and government to explore strategies for accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy.

“ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, has been held annually for over 15 years. It provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating growth,” Onanuga said. “It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda worldwide.”

President Tinubu is expected to showcase his administration’s reforms in key areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.

He will also engage with UAE leaders to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Accompanying the president are Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials.
