Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has disclosed that he would choose the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga ahead of the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has revealed that he is not a big fan of the English Premiership and would rather play in either Spain or Germany.

Speaking in an interview with SportyTV, the Super Eagles star, however, stated that his initial remarks don’t mean he would decline an invitation to play for a big club in England.

“I admit, I did an interview before and I’m not saying this just because I’m on this level. I’ve been saying this even before I dreamt of having an international passport, even before I dreamt of coming to Europe. I don’t really like the Premier League,” Boniface said.

“I rather prefer Spanish football and German football. I’m not saying if a good team [from the EPL] comes for me I will not go, but I’m just saying if you ask me to pick two countries I want to play in, it is Germany and Spain,” he added.

Boniface has been in excellent form since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union SG last summer. The Super Eagles star registered 21 goals and 10 assists in 39 games for Xabi Alonso’s side last season.

He was the club’s top scorer in the last campaign, helping Leverkusen to win their maiden Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal. Leverkusen were also Europa League finalists, losing 3-0 in the final against Atalanta.

Recent reports indicate that Chelsea are keeping tabs on the Leverkusen forward and could make a future move for the player.
