Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the Plateau State Government has banned congregational Eid at all praying grounds across the State.
This ban on Eid prayers is in tandem with the directive of President-General, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence, Sultan Mohammed Abubakar, who urged all Muslims to pray at home and suspend mass gatherings.
Some of the guidelines outlined by the State involved the reduction of persons in mosques to not more than 50 persons, the enforcement of hand washing, use of sanitizers and social distancing.
The ban also included the restriction on the movement of motorcycles for Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May 2020 and the closure of recreational centres across the State.
Security agencies were directed to enforce the above restrictions as Governor Lalong appealed to all citizens to adhere to the regulations and continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
