Lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has described Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, as a devil.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Adeyanju questioned Peter Obi’s legacy projects in Anambra. He lamented the poorly constructed roads that Obi claimed to have built in the south-east state.

In 2022, Adeyanju withdrew his support for Peter Obi after having a meeting with him. He revealed that while Obi was not as corrupt as other candidates, he was no saint.

During the podcast, the sociopolitical activist referenced an interview Obi had with Kadiri Ahmed before the 2019 election when he was running mate to Atiku Abubakar.

Adeyanju pointed out that Obi admitted to using his family business for a state project involving millions of dollars.

Although he acknowledged that Obi is a devil, Adeyanju emphasised that he is a lesser devil compared to President Bola Tinubu.

“Obi is a little bit different. He is also a devil, but you know, he is a lesser devil.

Look at his antecedent in Anambra. I didn’t know he did good in Anambra. Where are the legacy projects that he did in Anambra? Even the roads were bad.

You’re saving money that you put in the bank that you have interest in; is that how you run government? You put state resources in a family business, which you yourself admitted.

Kadiri Ahmed interviewed him. When he was running as vice president of Atiku in 2019. He posed that question that it was your company that was used for a state project where they invested millions of dollars. He said yes, he had resigned from the family’s company before he became governor. Who does that for God’s sake? That is why I said he’s better than them.

He’s just a lesser devil. Tinubu did it here in Lagos by using his supposed company, allegedly Alphabeta, to be running things here.”
