The former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed information shared with him by Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
El-Rufai disclosed that Obi had informed him about the hiring of mercenaries to disrupt the Labour Party, similar to how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was destabilise by a crisis.
He shared this information during a national conference in Abuja focused on strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
“There are internal mercenaries in the PDP, hired and motivated to destroy the party. The Labour Party is also facing similar issues. Peter Obi himself told me, ‘I don’t know what’s happening in the party I contested with’,” he said.
El-Rufai also mentioned that he no longer recognises the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because none of the party’s organs had met in the past two years.
The former governor criticised the APC for neglecting its founding mission.
