Dele Momodu, the founder and publisher of Ovation Magazine has disclosed that some individuals close to former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar once accused him of being a spy for President Bola Tinubu.

Momodu, who served as a member of the Atiku/Okowa campaign council during the 2023 presidential election, made this revelation on the latest episode of Deep Dive, a podcast hosted by Teju Babyface.

He alleged that certain figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were determined to sabotage his relationship with Atiku.

Addressing speculation that he would switch allegiance to Tinubu after the latter’s victory, Momodu refuted the claims, emphasizing his loyalty to his political commitment.

"Once I committed myself to taking that appointment, nothing was going to take me away from that assignment," Momodu stated.

He further revealed the pressures he faced, saying, "People were busy going to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to tell him that Dele is Tinubu's spy. So you now want me to confirm that I was indeed a spy by abandoning him and jumping? People don't have a conscience any longer."

Condemning what he described as a lack of integrity in politics, he added, "People are shameless. There, people are finding all kinds of spurious excuses to explain their rascality."

The comments have reignited discussions about internal conflicts and trust issues within political circles, particularly in the aftermath of Nigeria’s fiercely contested 2023 elections.
