Pastor Adeboye reacts to viral AI-generated image portraying him as an Alhaji

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed a controversial AI-generated image that recently went viral on social media, showing him dressed as an alhaji.

Speaking during the first Holy Ghost Night of the year on Saturday, January 4, Pastor Adeboye humorously acknowledged the image, which depicted him in Islamic attire and seemingly in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The image first surfaced in December 2024 and was shared by an X user with the handle @Sarkideyforyou, captioned, “Pastor Adeboye may Allah guide you to the right path.” It quickly gained traction, amassing over 3.8 million views, 1,500 reposts, 1,800 comments, and 4,000 likes.

Addressing the growing influence of online mockery, Pastor Adeboye maintained a calm demeanor and lightly remarked, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.” He also cautioned critics, predicting that many of them might not survive the year.

The incident highlights the rising impact of AI-generated content in shaping public discourse and underscores the challenges of addressing its implications in a digital age.
