President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Sam Ohuabunwa has met with Traditional Medical and Herbal Practitioners who submitted applications for the COVID19 cure through the Department of Traditional, Complementary & Alternative Medicine.

During the meeting, the Director-General of NAFDAC explained that the application processes and timeline for submitting local treatment solutions. She stated that NAFDAC does a toxicity test to ensure the safety of the drugs while the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development does scientific clinical research before approving the drugs.

The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora advised all participants of the meeting to submit their remedy to both NAFDAC and NIPRD for further analysis and evaluation of their products before a recommendation can be made.
