Osimhen didn't say he is leaving — Galatasaray vice president

Turkish champions and current Süper Lig leaders Galatasaray are reluctant to let go of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following his remarkable campaign with the club after joining on loan from Napoli last September.

The 26-year-old has been in sensational form for the Yellow and Reds, racking up 29 goals in 34 competitive appearances for the Istanbul-based club.

Several reports have linked the former Capocannoniere award winner with a move away from Turkey when his loan spell expires at the end of the current campaign, with strong links to the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Serie A.

Osimhen’s recent statements to the fans during their last game sounded like a farewell message, but the club insists that the player is open to the possibility of playing another season at Rams Park.

"We will make a decision soon. It will be decided what is best for you. Galatasaray will always be in my heart… Today was an unforgettable day, with the 25th title and the fifth star of the club," Osimhen said, as quoted by Diario AS, following Galatasaray’s win over Samsunspor last Friday.

Reacting to these comments, the club's vice president, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, believes the club can still dream of keeping the player, as Osimhen did not explicitly state he is leaving.

"His words do not mean that he is leaving. He said that, even in the worst-case scenario, Galatasaray would always be in his heart. But he did not say that he is leaving. We want him to stay with us," Hatipoğlu told Diario AS.
