Frustrations have gripped many Nigerians as a result of the economic policies implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s government.
In a circulating video, two Nigerians raised concerns expressing outrage over the prices of food in the country.
The men lamented over the cost of one ball of eba, which was sold to them for N300, and a pail of garri going for N4,000.
Expressing their displeasure at the incident, many believe this is the new reality for many other Nigerians living below the minimum wage who can barely afford to eat two square meals a day.
These men criticised President Tinubu for his inability to improve the living conditions in the nation.
"Tinubu promised us that if he comes, things will change, but you have not done anything."
The men also called out the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for his earlier promise to resign if he failed to arrest former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
"The EFCC chairman said if he didn't arrest Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, he would resign. Have you resigned? Yahaya is now walking freely," one of the men challenged.
The men who spoke in their local language emphasised the seriousness of the hardship, saying, "If they like dogs, fowl, eggs, they say, bawe na den si so na 300 na ya own o.
“See this eba, 300. 300 na ya own, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," they exclaimed, illustrating the stark disparity between political promises and the lived experiences of Nigerians.
The concerns raised by these two men comes amid the plan of some Nigerians to protest in August.
One of them said, "We're going to run this protest. This country, we must do well. You must do well. This government, we're going to end up.”
Recall that on Friday, July 12, 2024, Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, said that Nigerians are now prepared to actualise the revolution that President Tinubu advocated for in 2014, when he was an opposition party member.
Sowore, had taken to social media to announce a nationwide #RevolutionNow protest set to take place on August 5, marking its fifth anniversary, “They asked for a REVOLUTION and It is here now! Bola Tinubu @officialABAT once asked for a revolution, even Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari once asked for a revolution and Nigerians now want a real REVOLUTION.
“Nothing Can Stop An Idea Whose Time Has Come.”
