An audio has resurrected in which the Director-General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi, was caught on tape criticising former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In the short clip, posted by Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan in January 2019, Amaechi, who was also the Minister of Transportation, alleged that Buhari never listened to anyone.
He stated that Buhari also did not care about the hardship and hunger ravishing Nigerans, despite their pleas for better economic policies.
Amaechi mentioned that Buhari would often laugh off criticisms from dissatisfied citizens. He recalled a specific incident when he was on a plane with Buhari and encountered a trader from Onitsha who was unable to sell his goats during the Sallah celebration. After watching the video, Buhari questioned how he was responsible for the Onitsha trader’s predicament.
In the audio clip, Amaechi said, “Three years of Buhari, everybody, including pressmen, farmers, workers, politicians and students were crying. The rate of poverty was very high, people are hungry, and Nigeria will never change.
The president is not listening to anybody. The president doesn’t care. You can write anything you want to write, the president doesn’t care.
He will read the whole lab, and he will say, ‘come and see, they are abusing me here’.
In fact, there is one case where somebody in Onitsha, a trader who couldn’t sell his goats during Salah. I was stuck with him on the plane. The man was busy abusing Buhari and he said, ‘come, what’s my business with an Onitsha goat seller?
This country won’t change. This country is going nowhere. Even if you divide the country into ten, it will still not change.”
Six years later, Omokri reshared the video on his social media page and captioned it, “Buhari wrecked Nigeria. He was just sharing money in Abuja - Rotimi Amaechi.”
