Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Wednesday hosted the League of Imams and Alfas for a special Iftar, the meal marking the breaking of the fast during Ramadan.
The gesture was in demonstration of unity and religious harmony in the state.
The event underscored the significance of Ramadan as a period of devotion, self-discipline, and virtues such as patience and charity.
Addressing the audience, Abiodun emphasized the importance of self-restraint and compassion for the less privileged, aligning with the core teachings of Ramadan.
He also thanked the League of Imams for the peace enjoyed in Ogun State, saying the state has not suffered any religious crisis or trouble as a result of religious intolerance.
He said this was because of the good messages the imams preached to their congregation in mosques.
Abiodun expressed delight that in Ogun, Christians and Muslims operate peacefully, adding that the peaceful co-existence enables government to function effectively.
