Legal practitioner and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has refuted a claim by the former governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, on the creation of #EndSARS and the protests associated with it.

Akande had claimed that the #EndSARS protest of October 2020 was started by the Obidients to stop President Bola Tinubu's presidential ambition.

He also claimed that #EndSARS, which was against police brutality, was created in America from where it got the funds used in orchestrating its plan in Nigeria.

Reacting, Adeyanju revealed that #EndSARS was convened by Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink, with support from him and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

He wrote on X, "Baba Akande is a liar for saying Obidients started #EndSARS. We will not allow him to rewrite history before our very eyes. We started #EndSARS and we are not Obidients."

He then quoted a post from 2017 about an #EndSARS rally he and others organized to prove that the movement didn't start in 2020 as claimed by Akande.

He said, "2017 #EndSARS Rally invite to Nigerians. We printed all the banners with our money."

To further prove his claim that the Obidients were not the ones behind the October 2020 protest in its initial stages, Adeyanju shared a post by Sowore which rallied support for a protest against police brutality.

Sowore's post reads, "#EnDSARS Protest in Abuja tomorrow (Thursday 9am) @policeng Force Headquarters we all resuming to work with the IGP until he scraps #SARS. Let all be there en mass! #RevolutionNow."

Meanwhile, the Obidient Movement has refuted the claim by Akande that it was behind the protest to stop Tinubu.

According to the Coordinator, Tanko Yunusa, the movement had not been formed at the time of the #EndSARS events.
