Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu was on cloud nine following his former club's historic victory against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners thrashed the 15-time winners 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

Declan Rice grabbed the headlines with two superb free-kick goals, with makeshift number nine Mikel Merino adding the cherry on top to give the Gunners a healthy lead heading into the second leg at the Santiago BernabΓ©u next week.

Kanu, who was at the Chivas Watch Party in Lagos to support Mikel Arteta's side, was ecstatic following his former side's remarkable win on a big European night.

The 48-year-old, in a video that has surfaced on social media, was seen celebrating with fans at the watch party.

Kanu featured for Arsenal from 1999 to 2004, having joined the Gunners from Inter Milan.

The former Super Eagles forward was part of Arsenal's Invincibles team that last won the Premier League in 2004.
