Human rights activist IG Wala has said northerners are constituting nuisance in the southern past of Nigeria in the name of searching for better economic survival.
He lamented that most of them abandoned farming to embark on menial jobs in the South which are sometimes demeaning.
In a post on Facebook, he wrote, "DEAR AREWA,
"If states in the south will wake up any moment to make a law that says no more roaming of streets in cities and local communities by "Malams and Aboki", that will be the beginning of another level of political and religious crisis in Nigeria.
"Whereas we have been pretending for long not to know that our own people are constituting nuisance in the name of searching for economic survival across some States in the south.
"Why can't we use common sense to know that it is not safe anymore for northern youth to embark on "ci rani" or "after farming hustle" so to speak, because of the insecurity situation in the country?
"In order to get a clearer picture of how these young people are creating problems instead of earning a decent living across some communities in the south, kindly read this submission by a fellow Comrade, Musty LaLa:
"I have lived and worked in almost all the states in the South East, Niger Delta and also in SouthWest.
"Northerners heading to anywhere in the South should be discouraged because they are being treated disdainfully due to the way our people mostly conduct themselves.
"First and foremost, the manner of transportation to the south by some of our people is nothing but insulting to the entire North. They mostly hurled themselves on top or inside trucks as if they are some animàls and most of them looking unkèpt like pígs. Secondly, some of them over there, act as if they are above the law and over little argument would draw out knivès and stab the locals(mostly Okada riders). Thirdly, they cluster together in uncompleted buildings, abandoned warehouses, mosques etc thereby making the people fear their gathering and also messing up the environment and lastly, doing the dirtiest menial jobs charging less compare to what the locals would outrageously charge higher. Also, the activities of the Babanbola scavengers which is purely stèaling, löoting and carting away of the valuables of the locals making them to hàte every unskilled Dan Arewa they see in their domain. Then, since the emergence of Böko Hàram and bandits, the fear of the locals about movements of these boys increases.
"The bottom line is that Northern leadership must rise and solve the leadership problems that breeds illiteracy and unskilled young men even after 60 yrs that this was highlighted as a big problem that North must address.
"And for the Social media Northern Guys, simple enlightenment of our young men in the communities, rural areas and even in the cities is everyone's responsibility.
"We must tell them to avoid drugs, embrace cleanliness and have foresight.
"An illiterate Igboman would work hard, marry and have children and give them education with the hope of making difference in the lives of his own children through education. Compare this to our own unskilled people. Go around Abuja, most of the security men, their dreams is adding more wives, fùck and have plenty children. Bequeathing their children education is not in their plan despite working in big men's houses or sites that ordinarily they know that the gap btw their own economic status and their Ogas is education. Our clerics often dwell on mundane issues whereas there are big issues that they need to educate people on. What about the hypocrisy of some of our educated and enlightened guys on social media. Some take Ibos and the Yorubas as the enemies of the North whereas these people careless about us. And if we even believe we are in competition with them, why can't we consciously work to bridge the gap and catch up with them instead hypocritically believes they are behind the woes in North?"
