Nigeria would be better if Peter Obi were President – Abaribe

Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Abia South, said Nigeria would have been a better country if Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi had won the 2023 elections.

According to him, nepotism that has gained ground under the Bola Tinubu administration would have been non-existent under the former Anambra State Governor.

He made these remarks on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, November 25.

"If Peter Obi had won, you probably would have seen a better Nigeria than what we are seeing today," he said. "Number one, he would not be as nepotistic as this government. It's not in him. That is just who we are, we feel for the other people."

Citing a case for his nepotism allegation against President Bola Tinubu, he queried his appointment of four ministers from Ogun State when many others had only one.

He stressed that Tinubu only deepened the nepotism that was started under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The senator further stated that rather than waiting for presidents to be fair to the people of the South-East, it is high time people of the zone went back to revamp it, make it more livable, better, and more cohesive.

He pointed out that apart from Obasanjo and Jonathan, no president has been fair to the people and that the people cannot continue to wait for that.
