New Chelsea boss Maresca gives fans worrying message ahead of new season

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has urged Blues fans to trust the process as the club prepares for next season.

The Italian tactician was appointed in late May to succeed Mauricio Pochettino, who parted ways with the club at the end of last season.

Maresca, who led Leicester City to promotion by winning the EFL Championship last season, signed a five-year deal with Chelsea, with an option to extend for another year.

Although it's still early in July, Chelsea have already made significant signings, including Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.

After assuming his role, the 44-year-old Maresca urged fans to be patient, acknowledging that the journey ahead will be challenging.

"Just trust the process, trust the idea, and be behind the team," Maresca told the club's media.

"We're going to enjoy the journey, but it won't be easy. Nothing is easy at any club or for any manager. However, we'll surely enjoy our journey."

Maresca's tenure will begin with a pre-season match against Wrexham on July 25 and conclude with a game against Italian Serie A Champions Inter Milan on August 11, according to Sky Sports.
