The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has charger Sunshine Stars welfare officer, Abdulrahman Abdulsalam, for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules following inquest into the Matchday 19 fixture between Ikorodu City and Sunshine Stars.
In a statement on Friday, the NPFL said Abdulsalam's conduct, including unguarded public statements, breached the rules which mandates all participants to uphold professionalism and exemplary behaviour.
A three-match ban has been imposed on the Sunshine Stars official with immediate effect.
"Abdulsalam is hereby barred from all of Sunshine Stars' activities connected to NPFL25 for the duration of the ban," the league said.
"The sanction is a corrective measure to ensure that all participants hold the league in high standards."
Abdulsalam has also tendered an apology for his misconduct and unguarded public statements.
In another development, the NPFL charged Nasarawa United for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules in the course of their Matchday 18 fixture vs Rivers Utd on December 22, 2024.
"The Lafia club breached NPFL25 rules following encroachment unto the field of play in the course of the match.
"Nasarawa United also failed to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters which led to the assault on the away team.
"The club's supporters also assaulted one of the match officials (centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim)," the league said.
According to the NPFL, Nasarawa United will pay a fine of N3 million, being N1 million each for encroachment unto the pitch, failure to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters and failure to provide adequate and effective security.
The league also deducted three points and three goals from the club's accrued points and goals for the assault on centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim.
"Nasarawa United have been ordered to identify & prosecute the individual(s) involved in assaulting the away team with details of their progress submitted to NPFL within seven working days of this notice," the league concluded.
