Rivers United head coach Finidi George has explained why his side lost by a lone goal to his former club Enyimba in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Pride of Rivers lost away to Enyimba in Aba on Saturday, February 15.
Imot Obot scored the only goal of the game from a superb free-kick in the first half to secure all three points for the Elephants.
Sharing his thoughts on the game, the former Super Eagles coach explained that his side didn't take their chances, which resulted in their defeat.
“Before they had that free-kick, we already had a one-on-one chance that we didn’t take, which could have changed the game,” Finidi stated in a post-match interview.
“After that moment, they had that free-kick, which is debatable because we also had ours, which wasn’t given.
“We pushed in the second half after making some changes. Overall, I’m quite pleased, even though we lost the match. It’s been a while since we played this way. I must commend the players for the effort.”
