The date for the planned protest in Ekiti State has been revealed.
The protest, dubbed "Ekiti oto ge," is set to take place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Fajuyi Park.
Isaac Fayose, the younger sibling of former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose, posted on Instagram urging the state government to "come clean about our airport."
Fayose has been a critic of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"No turning back... Come clean about our airport. Pay civil servants minimum wage now. Fix Ekiti roads," he wrote on social media.
His criticism of the state governor led to speculation that he was on his brother's payroll during his time as governor.
Dismissing the rumors, he offered N50 million to anyone who could prove he received contracts during his brother's tenure, emphasizing that his success comes from God, not deals with his brother.
In a video, he stated, “If any of you can show me where I got contracts from Ekiti when my brother was there, I will give you 50 million naira. All my success is from God almighty... Enough is enough!”
Fayose, speaking partly in pidgin in the video, said, “Many of you accuse me of spending Ekiti money. My brother did not give me a single job as governor, I repeat it boldly.
“If any of you can find where I received one contract from my brother, I will give you N50 million. All of you, even my success in life, you attribute it to Ekiti, to my brother. It's a big lie.”
