President Bola Tinubu is currently in Ghana for the inauguration ceremony of President John Mahama.
Tinubu arrived in Ghana on Monday, January 6th, to attend Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony, which was held at Black Stars Square in Accra.
The event brought together many distinguished personalities from Nigeria and around the world.
Among those present were Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, and his wife Yemisi.
John Mahama became the first Ghanaian president to make a comeback after being ousted from office following his first term.
He won the 2024 presidential election by defeating his closest contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, with 56.55% of the total votes.
This inauguration also marks a historic moment as Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang becomes the first female vice president of Ghana.
In his speech, Tinubu expressed optimism that African leaders would lift their citizens out of poverty.
He also mentioned his hope that Ghana and Nigeria will work together to strengthen their relationship and bring about progress and positive change.
