Road signs have been mounted on major highways like Third Mainland Bridge, Agege Motor Road, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to educate motorcyclists and tricycle drivers on restricted routes for their vehicles, the Lagos State Government has said.

This statement was made by Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, who warned riders of these vehicles to desist from restricted areas or face stiff punishment.
He added that more locations that will be banned as well, hinting that the State Government commenced the installation of 2000 prohibition signs to restrict the movement of motorcycles, tricycles on roads.
Restating his earlier pronouncement he said: "Motorcycle and tricycle operations remain restricted on highways and bridges in all the Local Government areas including Apapa, Ikeja, Ikoyi, Surulere, Eti-Osa, and Lagos Island."

According to the Commissioner, most of the road prohibition signs indicate restricted areas for motorcycles and tricycles.
He added that the installation of the road signs was to create awareness on the Lagos State Traffic Laws on restricted areas for the operation of motorcycles and tricycles.
