Video of some sacked ministers’ staff jubilating after President Bola Tinubu dismissed them from his cabinet has sparked reactions.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the president announced the names of ministers who underperformed in the last one year in office.
The list of ministers sacked by President Tinubu includes Uju-Ken Ohanenye, the former Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, the former Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
As the names were mentioned, videos emerged of Uju-Ken Ohanenye’s staff, the former Minister of Women Affairs, in a celebratory mood, jumping for joy and singing songs.
Despite the announcement, Uju took to social media to express her appreciation to the President and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for giving her the opportunity to serve.
She said, “I write to express my sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has been an honor and a privilege to contribute to the development of our nation. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for her invaluable guidance and support during my tenure as Minister of Women Affairs. Her kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success.”
Meanwhile, some Nigerians reacted to the video of the staff jubilating at the removal of Uju Kennedy as Minister.
@Emekaelenwoke: With what I know about fellow Nigerians, whenever they celebrate like this, the person was doing something right that they see as oppression
@Engee24: You can tell she’s doing her job … Nigerians don’t like people who put them to order …
@kenkabulli: Dem really celebrate ooo!!! ...if not for any other thing, the uncouth way she speaks reach to sack ooo. All these ones celebrating should also work for the good of that commission and shun all that civil service bureaucracy eating out the essence of the entire system
@Paplotech11: Chaii I think everyone was happy about this
@IbeawuchiJust1: 1.3 million naira to buy fuel for 6 cars, that's why she stepped down for tinubu during APC primary election
@ElozonaVictor: Dss former boss bichi, workers were happy
Uju kenedy former minister, the workers are happy.
If its the Nigeria we know. Someone must be doing something right.
Would FCT workers jubilate if wike is sacked.
@AyoguAyogu1: Very Stoopid display. I don't support her but they (civil servants) are worse.
