John Mahama: Dele Momodu congratulates his close ally on winning Ghana's presidential election

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised Ghana for its "uncommon zeal, tenacity, determination, and patriotism" after Vice President Muhammadu Bawumia conceded defeat to former President John Mahama in the polls.

Momodu, a close ally of the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made this known in a post on Instagram.

He noted that despite the skirmishes and deaths that occurred during the process, Ghana was able to maintain its respected democratic processes.

"Despite some skirmishes and avoidable deaths yesterday, the Republic of GHANA has once again demonstrated her capacity to sustain its Democracy against all odds. While the process is yet to be formally concluded, or conceded, no Ghanaian is left in doubt about the unprecedented winds and waves of CHANGE. GHANAIANS must me commended for their uncommon zeal, tenacity, courage, determination and PATRIOTISM... This beautiful African country deserves our biggest congratulations," Dele Momodu wrote.

In another post, the former presidential aspirant praised Dr. Bawumia for conceding defeat like a "true gentleman."

"Well done Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for conceding like a gentleman. God bless you, Sir, and the Republic of Ghana," he wrote.

Dr. Bawumia announced his defeat in the 2024 presidential elections at a press conference on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

He disclosed that he had called the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mahama, to congratulate him as the Electoral Commission finalizes and announces the results.
